My Quick Thoughts on the New Film “Halloween Kills”

There have been arguments on every level about how “good” of a movie the long-awaited Halloween Kills turned out to be.
Personally, I had two major takeaways from the film:
1. Michael’s kills grew more powerfully ruthless.
From the chainsaw in the firefighter to the knife through the armpit, Michael’s ability and resourcefulness felt explosive in this movie. Being an avid fan of Halloween III: Season of the Witch, the reappearance of the trick-or-treater masks was enjoyable, especially since the scene surrounding their cameo was filled with more intense kills. Though I admit some surprise in the final kill of the film, when he took Karen (Judy Greer) down in the old Myers house — given that she had set him up for the entire town to destroy him, I assumed he would have thoroughly enjoyed himself during that specific kill. In addition, I studied the actor’s body movements and how deliberately he was performing his list of kills, noting that the character was being portrayed with body language that suggested a subtle glee or revival of sorts with each death. I suppose his satisfaction in murdering Laurie’s daughter was short-lived due to the determination to get that job finished. The death of Cameron…
